Privacy Policy
Effective October 16, 2026 · Last updated October 19, 2026
Introduction
This Privacy Policy describes how Adhan: Prayer Times, Qibla & Salah Tracker ("Adhan," "we," "our," or "us"), developed and operated by Svelte Solutions (SMC-Private) Limited, handles information when you use our iPhone and Android applications and their widgets (the "App"). Adhan has no accounts, no advertising, no analytics, and no tracking. Almost everything the App knows about you stays on your phone.
Information We Collect
Information we do not collect
- Personal information such as your name, email address, or phone number (unless you choose to email us)
- User accounts or login credentials — the App has no accounts
- Analytics, usage statistics, or crash reports — the App contains no analytics or crash-reporting software
- Advertising identifiers — the App shows no ads and does not track you across other companies' apps or websites
- Your prayer log, streaks, or the apps you choose for Focus — these never leave your device
- Photos, camera, microphone, contacts, or health data
1. Location (optional)
- If you allow it, the App uses your device's location to calculate prayer times and the Qibla direction. These calculations happen entirely on your device. On Android the App asks only for approximate location, and only when you ask it to use your current location
- To show the name of your city, the App sends your coordinates to your phone's reverse geocoding service: Apple's (MapKit) on iPhone, and the system Geocoder on Android, which is provided by Google on most devices. Each provider's handling of that request is governed by its own privacy policy
- You can decline location access and choose a city by hand instead; the App works fully either way
- Your saved location is stored on your device only. We never receive it
2. Prayer log, streaks and settings (stored on your device only)
- Which prayers you mark as prayed or made up, your streaks and history, your calculation method and adjustments, alert choices, and appearance preferences
- This data is kept in the App's private storage on your phone and shared only with the App's own widgets and extensions. It is not uploaded to us or to anyone else
3. Focus
- iPhone: Focus uses Apple's Screen Time frameworks (Family Controls, Device Activity, and Managed Settings) to pause the apps you choose from the start of each prayer until you mark it as prayed. Apple gives the App only opaque tokens for the apps and categories you pick. The App cannot see which apps they are, and it cannot see your app usage or browsing
- Android: if you turn Focus on, you grant the App Usage access and permission to display over other apps. The App uses Usage access only to tell, on your device, whether one of the apps you chose is open during a prayer, so it can show its block screen over it. It does not record, keep, or send a history of the apps you use
- Your Focus selections and schedule stay on your device and are never sent to us
4. Purchase data (via RevenueCat)
- If you buy or restore Adhan Pro, RevenueCat receives your purchase status and transaction identifiers so the App can unlock Pro and restore it later
- RevenueCat uses an anonymous app user ID it generates — no name, email, or other personal identity is attached
- Payment is processed entirely by the Apple App Store on iPhone or Google Play on Android; we never see your payment details
How We Use Information
- Calculate prayer times and the Qibla direction for where you are
- Remind you of prayers, and keep your prayer log, streaks, and widgets up to date
- Pause or block the apps you choose during prayer, if you turn on Focus
- Verify and restore Adhan Pro purchases
Notifications and the Fajr Alarm
If you allow notifications, the App schedules prayer alerts locally on your device. If you turn on the Fajr Alarm, the App schedules it on your device using Apple's alarms (AlarmKit) on iPhone, or an exact alarm with a full-screen alarm screen on Android, and asks for any permission that needs. No notification or alarm content is sent from a server, and we do not learn when you receive or open them. You can turn alerts off in the App or in your device's settings at any time.
Ratings and Reviews
The App may let you rate it using the App Store review prompt on iPhone or the Google Play in-app review prompt on Android. Those prompts are operated by Apple and Google; whether you respond, and what you write, is handled by them and is not shared with us by the App.
Third-Party Services
The App uses the following third-party services, each governed by its own privacy policy:
- Apple MapKit (iPhone) and the Android Geocoder (Android) — turn your coordinates into a city name
- RevenueCat — in-app purchase and subscription management
- Apple App Store and Google Play — app distribution, payments, and the review prompt
Data Storage, Retention and Security
- Local storage: your prayer log, settings, location, and Focus selections are stored locally on your device in the App's private storage
- No cloud storage: we do not run servers for the App and do not upload your data anywhere
- Third-party transmission: location lookups go to your phone's geocoding provider and purchase status goes to RevenueCat over encrypted connections. These providers may process data in countries other than your own
- Retention: data on your device is kept until you delete it or the App. Data held by RevenueCat is kept according to its retention policies
Data Sharing
- We do not sell or rent your data to anyone
- Data is shared only with the services listed above, and only as needed for their stated functions
- We may disclose data if required by law or to protect the rights, property, or safety of our users
Children's Privacy
Adhan is not directed at children under 13 (or the applicable age in your jurisdiction), and we do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone. If you are a parent or guardian with a question about a child's use of the App, please contact us.
Internet Connection
Prayer times, the Qibla compass, alerts, the tracker, and Focus all work offline. An internet connection is used only for:
- Looking up your city name from your location
- Buying, verifying, and restoring Adhan Pro (RevenueCat, and the App Store or Google Play)
- Downloading app updates
Your Rights and Choices
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct, or delete personal data held about you, and to withdraw consent at any time.
- Location: change or revoke access in your phone's settings (on iPhone, Settings → Privacy & Security → Location Services; on Android, Settings → Apps → Adhan → Permissions), or choose a city by hand in the App
- Notifications and alarms: change them in the App or in your device's settings
- Focus: turn Focus off in the App, or remove Adhan's access in your phone's settings (Screen Time on iPhone; Usage access and Display over other apps on Android)
- Deleting your data: uninstalling the App removes all of its locally stored data. For purchase data held by RevenueCat, contact us and we will submit a deletion request on your behalf
- Access: since we do not collect personal information, there is no personal profile for us to provide
Changes to This Privacy Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Any changes will be reflected on this page with an updated "Last updated" date. Continued use of the App after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
